Britain’s finest Victorian fresh water pumping station. Two James Watt beam engines with Lancashire boilers. Robey & Co. winding engine from Linby Colliery and 7.25 inch gauge steam operated miniature railway. Play area, café and underground reservoir tours also available (additional fee applies) at steam events. Please note the museum is not in Papplewick village.

Designed in the early 1880s to pump millions of gallons of clean fresh water every day to the rapidly increasing population of industrial Nottingham.
Today, thanks to the endeavours of The Papplewick Pumping Station Trust, a Registered Charity dedicated to the preservation of the pumping station, and the enthusiasm of its volunteers you can still experience the most spectacular, preserved water pumping station in the British Isles. See the engines and boilers in steam, marvel at the underground reservoir and enjoy the variety of themes of each steam event, including: English Civil War, Classic & Vintage Cars, Steampunk and the 1940s.
