London Canal Museum 2025

The museum tells the fascinating story of London's canals in a building with a history. Built beside Battlebridge Basin on the Regent's Canal, this was once an ice warehouse and you can peer down into the only preserved commercial ice well on view in the UK.

The exhibitions include Horse Power, the story of horse goods transport in Victorian London on the streets and canals, and the new Water and Locks exhibition, which explains canal engineering and the supply of water, the history of locks, and includes a model lock through which you can work a boat.

There is a display of archive films, an exhibition of model craft, a detailed map of London's waterways and of course the narrowboat 'Coronis'. The latter has a cabin in which you can contemplate life with a family in a tiny space. Regular temporary exhibitions and special events are held.
