Strachur Smiddy 2026

Step back in time as you enter the 18th century blacksmith’s Smiddy and see the local blacksmith work in the traditional way with forge, bellows and anvil, surrounded by cobbled floor, tools of the trade and beamed ceiling.

The smiddy dates back to at least 1791, and continued working until 1955. It has been repaired and restored to its original state and now acts as a working museum.

The Smiddy is in the "Clachan", which is the old village centre of Strachur, just off the main A815 road, behind the petrol station.
