Old Royal Station 2024

This stunning and historic building houses the iCentre, Aberdeenshire Council Library and Rothesay Rooms – a community-inspired cafe. Also home to a replica royal carriage, in position on the rail tracks, which Queen Victoria would have used to travel on part of her journey to Balmoral. There is also a very informative and interesting historical timeline of the station building. Access to the carriage is from the iCentre entrance.

The old station building has a long and eventful history that continues to stand at the heart of this Deeside village more than 40 years after the last passenger train pulled out on 28th February 1966. Following a major fire, the rebuilt part has been transformed into a fine restaurant, the tourist information centre is also located within the station.
