Glenelg – Skye Ferry 2025

The ferry boat, the 'Glenachulish', is the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland. She is ideally suited for this crossing and is part of the nation's heritage. There has been a car ferry service crossing the Kylerhea straits since 1934. However, the closest point to the Isle of Skye has been a crossing point for hundreds of years.

Travel to Skye on the Glenachulish, the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland.

People come from all over the world to visit the ferry. Sometimes, they even get married on it!

More often, passengers spot seals and herons, perhaps even an otter or the local sea-eagle.

Travelling on the the Glenachulish is a great experience, but she is over 40 years old and maintenance is expensive.
