The museum is a Grade II Listed Georgian house with stables and converted hayloft. There is plenty to discover and learn about, from local industry such as coal mining and Stanton Ironworks, to how the Victorians lived, worked and played. Every room offers great displays of objects and there is plenty for all of the family.

The museum holds a great deal of material relating to the 20th century, from domestic bygones to military uniforms, and covers every area of daily life.

The earliest record of the site dates to 1598 when the Duke of Rutland was the first copyholder of a building and grounds on what is now Erewash Museum.
