Steam Rally 2027 at The Rural Life Living Museum 

Step back in time and enjoy a fantastic day of steam, machinery and family fun!

Come along to our Steam Rally and discover a wonderful collection of working steam engines, from impressive giants to smaller machines, all bringing the museum to life with sights, sounds and plenty of steam.

Steam, Engines & Demonstrations

There’s something happening throughout the day, including:

• Steam engines of all shapes and sizes on display and in operation
• The Steam Parade at 2pm – a highlight of the day!
• Boiler running demonstrations showing steam power in action
• Sawmill demonstrations with traditional machinery at work
• Woodyard demonstrations and plenty of activity around the yard
• The Old Kiln Light Railway in operation
• Minature Engine at play
• Stationary engines demonstrating
• Steam train rides and railway demonstrations
• Plus lots more steam-powered sights, sounds and machinery to discover around the museum

Family Fun

Bring the whole family for a day packed with things to see and do. With family activities, working machinery, trains and demonstrations, there’s plenty to keep visitors of all ages entertained.

Food and Drink

Take a break and enjoy a selection of hot and cold food and refreshments in The Market Garden Café - perfect for refuelling during a busy day of steam and activities.

Or visit the variety of food vans, from burgers, bacon rolls and breakfasts. 

Don't forget to visit the bar, serving local craft beers and ciders.

With working engines, steam trains, demonstrations, family activities and the spectacular 2pm Steam Parade, it’s a great day out for steam enthusiasts, families and anyone who loves traditional machinery.
