The story of the Clarks & Coats Thread Mills of Paisley, telling about thread making in Paisley from its origin in 1722 to the closure of the last mill in 1993. Many of the items on display have been donated by people who were connected with the local thread mills and includes a large collection given to the museum by Coats Plc.

The museum aims to preserve the social and industrial heritage of the Paisley & Renfrewshire Thread Mills for the education and enjoyment of all by collecting and displaying material relating to the thread industry.
