RAF Martlesham Heath played a pivotal role in the development of aviation in Great Britain. Based in the original Control Tower, as used through most of WW2, this museum is crammed full of interesting items, photos and stories, giving the history of the Heath.

The new airfield was dedicated on the 16th January 1917 but prior to its dedication, in late 1916, the Aeroplane Experimental Flight moved in and the new airfield was named as the Aeroplane Experimental Station.
