Lakeshore Railroad 2025

Curently the only public, steam working 9.5 inch gauge railway in the UK, Lakeshore Railroad was first opened in 1972. Running for just under a third of a mile round the boating lake, the tracks meander through the trees and over the level crossings before arriving back at the station.

Established in 1972, the line runs around the boating lake in the South Marine Park. Parking is available nearby and there are toilets and a cafe in the park, together with a children's playground. Trains run from around 11.30 to 5.00, longer in the summer season. Please be aware that operation can be curtailled in bad weather.
