Atholl Country Life Museum 2026
Perthshire
There has been a mill here since at least the 1590s, and is one of the last working watermills in Scotland. See how they stone grind wheat, oats, rye and spelt in the traditional manner. The watermill is fed from the River Tilt and as a spate river it relies on the water level for milling.
Address: Ford Road Blair Atholl Perthshire PH18 5SH

The mill was then used as a store until 1977 when restoration work was begun by John Ridley with the help of the last miller’s assistant who could still remember the old mill. John Ridley retired in 1993 and it then passed to James and Mary Bruce, parents of the current owner.
They mill whenever it is possible.
