Sat 14th Sep 2019 King Alfred Vehicle Display & Running Day
As part of the national Heritage Open Days programme, they will be running free vintage bus journeys in Winchester from approximately 12:00 until 17:00 between the Broadway and the Cattle Market car park in Worthy Lane. This service is expected to feature 1931 Dennis OU 9286 and 1967 open top Leyland Atlantean HOR 590E.
There will also be a display of vehicles at the Cattle Market, which will hopefully feature all three Bedford coaches in the King Alfred collection. This is planned to be the public debut of Bedford CALZ minicoach BHO 543C operated by King Alfred Motor Services in 1967 and now restored after over 30 years of dereliction. The Bedfords will be on display from approximately 12:00 to 15:00 after which some free coach trips will run.
A free vintage bus service will also operate on this day in connection with The Worthys Festival (a Village Open Day) for which the planned vehicle is 1967 closed top Atlantean HOR 592E.
