Ryhope Engines Museum

Illustrates aspects of water pumping. The two original Hawthorn beam engines of 1868, designed by Thomas Hawksley, have been restored and are steamed at frequent intervals. Steam is provided by hand fired Lancashire Boilers of 1908.
