Whitstable Museum 2024

Two world-first innovations originated in this supposedly sleepy fishing village – helmet diving and a steam-drawn passenger railway. The museum deals with wooden shipbuilding, the worldwide trade in coal and ice, along with the town's fire pump and harbour and the world famous oysters.
