Narrow gauge trains run for 3.5 miles along the former Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Clayton West branch, through the scenic South Pennine foothills, along high embankments, through historic woodlands, deep cuttings and Shelley Woodhouse Tunnel – the longest tunnel on a narrow gauge railway in Britain. Trains are usually hauled by steam locomotives, and based on historic narrow gauge locos that were built in Britain and exported all over the world.
