The Hollycombe Working Steam Museum is a collection of national importance. The collection was the brainchild of the late John Baldock and the first engine to arrive was a Burrell Gold Medal Tractor that came in 1951.

Run by a charitable trust, this is a major working steam-powered museum whose collection includes railways of different gauges, Britain's largest working Edwardian fairground, traction engines and steam rollers of varying types, as well as a steam sawmill, the engines from the former Clyde paddler Caledonia, an 1840s beam engine, waterwheel, all set in acres of woodlands. Adjacent and included in the visit are the 200 year old Listed woodland gardens. A trip on the narrow gauge railway gives excellent views on a clear day.

All this nostalgia is supported by a modern HLF-funded educational & visitor centre which contains toilets, a gift shop and an excellent cafeteria. Extensive signage around the site helps visitors to understand the many exhibits, most of which will be in steam on open days.

There are many special events throughout the year. See elsewhere for more details or visit the website.
