Anderton Boat Lift

The lift was built in 1875 to enable boats to be transferred between the Trent & Mersey Canal and the River Weaver. An impressive structure otherwise known as the ‘Cathedral of the Canals’ which can be seen working, trip boat also operates summer months. Visitor Centre.
