The only comprehensive guide to Britain's transport and industrial heritage
Tucked away on the south edge of Lichfield is the former Sandfields Pumping Station, looking rather forlorn and neglected. A modern housing estate has been built around it and although the building is listed, it seems that nothing is being done to preserve the building or the lovely Victorian Cornish beam engine it still contains. There is a chap, David Moore, who is trying to do something to save the engine and maybe have the building opened as a museum, but, as usual, lethargy rules among those who could help! Have a look at David's blog - http://morturn.wordpress.com/sandfields-pumping-station/ - for more and maybe drop him a line of support.
